Street Retro Bikers Club, Hong Kong, 2014

Established in 1999 by Felix Shu, lead singer of the local rockabilly group The Boogie Playboys, S.R.B.C. is the pioneering motorcycle club that introduced British classic Rockers culture to Hong Kong. Serving as a meeting point for rockers and bikers, the club provides a platform for self-expression in a city where countercultural movements are still emerging.

Drawing inspiration from the 1960s British Café Racer movement, rockabilly music, and cinematic representations of the era, particularly in films like ‘The Wild One,’ the club emphasizes that aesthetic considerations are as significant as the act of riding itself.

This portrait series is a visual study of individuals who embody the dream of reliving the cool and iconic days of the open road, offering a glimpse of Hong Kong’s Rockers culture.
